Bhopal: The department of culture and directorate of archaeology has honoured two eminent personalities — Prof. Ravindra Korisettar and Narayan Vyas — with Dr Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar Samman. Prof Korisettar was honoured for the year 2018-19, while Dr Narayan Vyas for 2019-20. A samman samaroh was organized recently by the culture department and the directorate of archaeology. This honour is given by the department of archeology to Indian citizen and institution for creative, constructive and specific achievements in the field of archaeological culture and conservation of antiquity.
Prof Ravindra Korisettar was born on July 8, 1952 in Hospet (Karnataka). He acquired training in the field of archaeology under the guidance of Prof. HD Sankaliya. He chose pre-history as his subject in archeology. Narayan Vyas was born on January 5, 1949 in Ujjain. More than 100 of his research papers have been published. tnn
